It's a unique place, although you have to be ready to climb all the stairs! Still, it's worth it!

I live near San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and will try to keep off from the mistakes of some reviews.
There was a beautiful road from Bermeo to Bakio but now the local government is improving it but making uglier.
Near Bakio and restaurant “Eneperi Jatexea” (this restaurant is also very good) there is a deviation to Gaztelugatxe.

Visted here yesterday on October 19, 2011. What a lively drive to get there! All mountainous, twisty, curving roads. Found the spot, and despite some signs that seemed to allow only residents, we drove down the narrow, one-lane road to the base.
