Emperor Meiji is considered a deity and is quite interesting to visit his sanctuary, surrounded by a forest of camphor trees. Many wedding ceremonies were taking place while I visited it. Budist monks and priest added interest fo the colorful ceremonies.

If you don't have time for the Meiji Shrine, don't feel cheated. The park is lovely, but the temple itself is of little interest, especially if you have been or are going to Kyoto.

A typical well kept place of interest. We loved everything about the parks and shrines that we visited.Be sure to book 10 days in advance though if you hope to go through the Imperial Place
