Reading that this was the only site still containing the actual cannon batteries and not just the bunker, I couldn't wait to visit and was not disappointed. The cannons are starting to rust out, but the site is in good shape. Just make sure that you know exactly where you're driving because there were no signs on the main road... More

My husband was the one who specifically wanted to go to this site, but I am very glad that I did. As earlier reviewers have noted, you can indeed get really close up and personal with the blockhouses, each of which houses a 150mm gun. We didn't worry too much with the information office - we had some knowledge of... More

On a clear day you can get the big picture as you can see the beaches, Point du Hoch and you can imagine the devastating power of the guns and the engineering which went into their construction. More

Not a huge amount to see but one of the better options of seeing some real gun placements. Its a shame that they are not being looked after properly though as they will fall apart at some point in the future. More

The visitor centre was closed as I visited in off season (it's open weekends-only during off-season). The site consists of three casements holding anti-shipping guns and an observation post. There's little information on site but you don't really need it. In typical French fashion you are able to clamber in many of the ruins (thankfully Health and Safety is lighter... More

Four well-preserved bunkers which were part of the German coastal fortifications. Great views. More

The guns are still in position and intact which seemed to be very rare while traveling the sites. You can climb in and around the bunkers/guns and get a good view of both the Coastline/Channel and inland. The size of the weapons is impressive! I would suggest this site to anyone visiting the region. It is only a short drive... More

The battery contains four bunkers of which three still retain their guns which is unique among remaining batteries. It also includes the command bunker which was featured in The Longest Day (as the bunker from which the Germans first viewed the invasion fleet). All can be visited without restraint. OSHA hasn't gotten there yet. More

We were just following the roads enjoying the view when we came upon the directional sign. Turned out to be well worth it! Parking was free and the walk among the bunkers added to the remaining of the landing at Arromanches. They were high on a cliff, masters of concrete and closer together than I would have imagined. There were... More

You can skip the other gun batteries and just come here - it is the only one that has the guns still mounted inside the cement encasements. There are 4 of them near the parking lot and a couple of others closer to the water. Very well preserved and it's free - the one at Crisbecq charges 6.50 euro and... More
