Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved our touring day with Judy! Judy’s a great driver and experienced guide. The weather was lovely as she drove us through the beautiful countryside, villages, and mountains. We appreciated all the side stops for photos and lunch in a picturesque village. Judy is a gem and we highly recommend taking a tour with her!

We arranged a full day Anglesey Tour with Judy Brough. We were particularly interested in the megalithic sacred sites. Judy was a great guide, VERY knowledgeable and very accommodating to our request. She is also was very professional and timely in her pre-trip communications with us, this is one of the very best tours that we have ever taken in the UK. We highly recommend Judy.

This was one of the castles built for King Edward I after his First Welsh War of 1277. He had five years to complete it before the Second Welsh War of 1282-3, so unlike most of his other castles, it was largely complete. The associated borough had only a ditch and palisade around it.
The Statute of Rhuddlan of 1277 settled the Welsh problem quite reasonably, but some of Edward's barons oppressed the locals and that fiery but foolish Welsh lord Dafydd ap Gruffydd, who had been on the English side in the First Welsh War, rose in rebellion and thereby committed his somewhat more sensible brother Prince Llywelyn to a Second Welsh War that he could not win, so both of them lost their lives and Wales lost its independence.
Rhuddlan Castle was extensively blown up with gunpowder at the end of the English Civil Wars of 1642-6 and 1648-9.
Nearby is the tump of the Norman castle - the Twt Hill - which preceded the English castle.
Good for a couple of hours in an afternoon - the staff are welcoming.
Rhuddlan means red church.

Judy is a very professional and higly skilled guide. She shows interesting and beautiful sites and stunning views om the way without stuffing too much into the programme. She is a good listener an instinctively feels what might be most interesting for her clients to see.The stories she tells are interesting and entertaining. Wales was a wonderful experience for us, also thanks to Judy. First class!

We hired Judy Brough for a one day tour of the places in North Wales we most wanted to see. Judy personalized our tour and found ways to maximize our time, using back roads to avoid the traffic caused by the busy Bank Holiday. We drove through Snowdonia National Park, visited the Isle of Anglesey, charming villages and little known sites that Judy suggested. She was highly trained and extremely informative, providing historical background and interesting stories about all the places we visited. The day flew by and our tour was everything we had hoped for and more.

My wife MaryKay and I spent a day in July with Judy, and were delighted with how much we saw of and learned about North Wales. She asked us our categories of interest (which were history, culture, and economy, with a bit of Snowdonia), and she tailored our tour to cover those. The pace was wonderful, her commentary was insightful and entertaining. When what we were seeing and hearing led to further questions, her responses were clear and to the point. It was if a new friend had become a favorite professor. We could not have been more satisfied.

Recommended by TripAdvisor, Judy Brough guide service was fantastic. She promptly met us at our hotel and took us to see Castles, out of the way attractions and a trip thru Snowdonia park. The weather was great and she allowed us time for sightseeing in small villages as well as a rolling commentary of historical facts. Great knowledge of the area and a pleasurable experience.

We got into a great groove with Judy. She is informative but fun. We spent three days together, and we were able to see the right number of castles (as opposed to every one). We had nice tea breaks to keep the touring relaxing. Her enthusiasm for Conway, Snowdonia, the history was contagious.

We wanted a tour of Conwy Castle and were so lucky to find Judy as we made arrangements for a tour. Something came up and she was unable to come but sent her husband Joe. He was fantastic, such a wonderfully patient man, knowledgeable on the castle, the town, the history and where to eat & shop. We had great time with him, he went the extra mile to help us see the most in the limited time we had there. We are so grateful for Joe and his assistance in making our time and experience in Conwy the best it could be. You won't be disappointed choosing Brough Guides in Northern Wales, they are the BEST!

I was spending several days in North Wales and wanted to see many different sites without worrying about driving on unfamiliar roads, so I booked Judy Brough for 2 consecutive days. She has a Blue Badge Guide qualification for Wales, which means that she went through a 3 year program learning all about the history of Wales and how to manage tour guiding. Needless to say, she is extremely knowledgeable about all of the locations that you can go to, and is eager to give an interesting overview about everything you see.

Judy was an absolute delight to work with, and she was always friendly and happy to make sure that everything was up to my expectations. She reviewed all the places I wanted to visit, and ensured that we had the perfect itinerary to make sure we could do everything that was reasonably possible. And when the weather was rainy on the second day, she was ever-vigilant about the weather forecast and rearranged the schedule to minimize the time we would be outdoors during the rain.

Judy was so polite and personable throughout my entire time with her, and I enjoyed her company. She told interesting stories about all of the locations we visited or drove past, and brought the history of Wales to life. I left Wales with a new admiration and respect for the region, and am utterly grateful that I was able to have Judy as a guide during my visit. If you want to explore North Wales and have a wonderful guide to accompany you, then I cannot recommend anyone more highly than Judy Brough!
