An excellent place for both adults and children.
We went there with our toddler and she loved it.

Swiss miniature
We took a train from Lucerne to Lugano. Then from Lugano to Melide. It is 5 minutes walk from the train station.
A miniature version of Switzerland spanning a scale of 14,000 square meters. The detailed miniatures show several well-known sites such as Chillon, Heidi’s house in Maienfeld, and the Duomo of Milan,Kolin square, William Tell’s chapel, Clock Tower, Bern,Zurich airport, Lion Monument, Lausanne cathedral, Monte San Salvatore furnicular, lake Lucerne and many many more. There are several rail tracks and miniature trains, cable-cars, and ships. The models are surrounded by 15,000 flower species and several thousand trees as well, making it an ideal retreat as well as a favorite for families.

I already was here's a child. It seemed to be the same but it's always a nice experience to go here and see all the nice places of Switzerland especially since I know most of the original places.
They put a lot of love into the details.
The kids liked little moving cars and trains and enjoyed the fishes and turtles a lot.

If you have a limited time in Switzerland, and by chance you are in Lugano, make sure you stop by at Swissminiatur. You can have a preview of Switzerland for a short time. The miniatures are quite interesting and delicately assembled. Perhaps, if the weather was fine during my visit I could give it a higher rating. There was not enough canopy or shades during summer or sunny days.

Swissminiature is not as the pictures suggests. It is surrounded by a very busy road and apartments, cranes etc..
Although most miniatures are nice, somehow it just feels all wrong due to the surroundings. On top of that they have at several places in the park speakers from which comes a very loud radio station. If it had been some atmosferic music I could understand, but a radio station? And it was unavoidable and gave me a terrible headache. When exiting the park I wanted to complaim about the loud noise, after all we paid almost Eur 40,- for 2 persons. I asked them about why it needs to be a radio station and they told me because they had a deal with this station. What ...... !!!!!???
Then the lady took a chocolate bar from the tray in front of her and offered it as some kind of compensation. Her reaction and gestures were so very offesive. ...

This is a great little place to visit and it's a lot of fun for pre-school kids who find a lot of the stuff very entertaining.
Two key things to keep in mind... try not to go mid-day during the summer months because it can get really hot and there is little shade there to protect you... and second thing... don't have food in there because compared to most of the other street food places that we had in Italy and Switzerland... this wasn't that good at all.

My two daughters, aged 5 and 6, and I spent 2-3 hours here. The younger one especially loves trains and things that go, so this was a hit for her. The admission price was a bit expensive, and some of the exhibits were a bit of a letdown (Zurich airport looked like someone just tossed some planes haphazardly onto a tarmac), or were broken. The girls did love following the trains across the park to see where they would go.
We grabbed lunch at the cafeteria, which had a very limited menu. I got each of us a bratwurst for 8 CHF each. Expensive, but at least the bratwursts were huge. I could barely finish one myself and the girls each only managed to finish about half of theirs before feeding the rest to the sparrows.
Near the exit there's also a small arcade, a bumper boat ride, and a miniature train that the kids can ride on around the entire park, all for an additional fee, of course. My girls couldn't get enough of the bumper boat ride.
All in all, pricey, especially given the exchange rate, but it was time well spent with the girls.

We visited Miniature Switzerland while travelling around Lugano area. While the park and the models are really great and well maintained, it’s all a little boring, not worth the money and definitely not worth a dedicated trip. Even though we live in Switzerland and know most of the places/monuments, we did not find the park very interesting.

Many of the objects are not up to date. The price is ridiculous high for a 30min walk through puppet houses of the most famous swiss monuments. Very disappointing.

Come autostrada assolutamente no! Però ci sono un paio di strade statali e cantonali che collegano l'Italia tramite diversi valichi al parco di Melide. Se vuoi più info contatami pure.
