Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interesting building but you can't get up close or visit it. It's privately owned. Shame really as if I understood correctly a lot of the restoration was paid for by public money

Love it . The walk in the fields around the castle is awesome . History is fab. People are polite and happy to help . The castle is awesome to look at and knowing the past history story being told.

Beautiful tower very striking, the colours of this are so nice, I remember this from when I was a child and since. Just a pity it was bought for next to nothing, then put on the market for offers over 3 million, Kent council did not know what they had.

Why this place is not re-opened to the public is a mystery, no reply from owners, again shame it some revenue that could be put back into the building, missing a trick and a waste for the public not being able to access it.

So this is a holiday cottage on what is now a private estate with most of the Castle having been long since demolished. Quite striking though.

Never managed to get to grips with what was going on here, whether we were meant to be there or not? We arrived on what was, supposedly, an open day and phoned the number, which advised that it was open… but we never saw a soul or a sign… so we left…??? Looked quite extraordinary... but could do with some clarification.

Hi I was the manager of the Hadlow Tower Visitor Centre up until last September 2017. The Tower has been bought privately and the new owner did not wish to continue with the public visits that we used to run every Thursday with a group of volunteer stewards.. His covenants say he must open the Tower to the public but we have seen little if any evidence that this is happening. We have reluctantly had to remove our exhibition equipment ,bought with funds raised locally and are no longer involved with the Tower much to our disappointment. I am sorry you had a wasted journey , that would never have happened while we were running the exhibitor centre and open days.

Glorious building, imaginatively and beautifully restored, which makes for an incomparable stay.
However, do take your own radiator key for bleeding the 4th floor (best) bedroom radiators, which are presumably at the end of the run, otherwise in winter you might find you spend a chillier night in the top bedroom (and bathroom which is heated from the bedroom below) than anticipated. Also be aware that in the other larger bedded room on the 3rd floor, the small windows don't allow for much natural light.
Incredibly luxurious having an almost silent lift directly to each main bedroom, the sitting room and to the dining room and kitchen, but such fun trying to work out how to navigate the convoluted routes without the lift. So sad that Vivat went bust doing this place up, but what a magnificent effort.

You must go and see the tower if you are anywhere near or plan to visit Kent. It's open on Thursdays throughout spring to autumn. The outside is stunning and the inside has been really well refurbished into a holiday rental. We'd love to stay there.
