I stayed in Boenigen on the edge of Lake Brienz for a week a while ago. Loved it! It is a beautiful lake and anyone visiting the area should take a trip on the lake steamer. One possible stop off is Giessbach Falls on a fine day. Brienz itself has its own charm too though. From Brienz you can get... More

If the weather is good, try to take the morning steamer trip from Interlaken Ost Station to Brienz. Have lunch at a restaurant in Brienz then return to Interlaken by train or back on the boat. Do choose the paddle steamer, if it is running. More

Do a round trip, start in Interlaken drive on teh left side down to Brienz, stop at Hotel Schloss Giessbach even just for a coffee. Lots of Japanese who adore the postcard feeling of this region. More

One of the purest and cleanest lake in Switzerland. Many small villages around the lake with great views to the mountains. Lake is not only clean but usually colder than other lakes. More

The Aare river meanders for nearly 200 miles from its origin in the Bernese Alps to its ultimate convergence with the High Rhine. Take the carefully restored steamship from Interlaken to Brienz, stopping at numerous villages and sights on the way. Certainly worth stopping for a break are Iseltwald and Giessbach. Giessbach's beautiful waterfalls and just beside the grate Giessbach Hotel, stay a night before the final leg to Brienz. Visit the open air Ballenberg museum and, now an expert in Swiss regional...
