In general mauitius is not about places. its about chilling by the lagoon and relaxing in the sun.. A day of touristy trip is normal to do and this place is worth a visit. As a geologist it delighted me..well kept property. But the poo turtles int he area should get more care. More

Just don't go too far out of your way. If you are passing, it is quite attractive, and the giant tortoises are always fun to get so close to. More

I had a 1,5 day visit to Mauritius, so not very long. I had therefore to make choices in what to see. My hotel was located on the west coast ( Hilton), so a reasonable distance to both botanical gardens as well as Chamarel Coloured Earth. I choose the latter, combined with a visit to Port Louis. Apart from the... More

Distinctly underwhelmed by the coloured earths, it was a dull day but can't ever imagine being excited about them. The actual expanse was of earth was quite small. We were staying in the lower half of the west of the island, can't imagine how disappointed we'd have been if we'd travelled from the north. More

We went as part of a day trip and although it was nice to see I wouldn't want to spend longer than 15 minutes there and definately wouldn't go back again. The coloured earth was pretty and they also had tortoises which were cute and a little cafe but it's not somewhere you could or would want to spend more... More
