We had read some poor reviews but didn't want to believe them; we should have. It felt as though the animals were placed there for us to drive up and see, and you can see a busy road from most points of the reserve. The lions were in a tiny enclosure (we heard the same story about it only being... more

Having read the reviews, we were a bit concerned. Our experience at Aquila was amazing...the reserve was beautiful and although relatively close to Cape Town, we felt we were a wrold apart. Our guide Daniel made the game drive quite interesting and helped us underestand the animals and their habitats. No, this is not a safari, nor is it meant... more

This game reserve is quite a drive from Cape Town, taking approximately 3 and a half hours but it is easy to find and it definately worth it. We opted for the overnight safari so we got there at about 11.30 so that we could chill out an relax by the pool before going on safari. With the overnight package... more

Spent 1 night here as part of my holiday in Cape Town. We chose to go because we wanted to have a safari experience whilst in South Africa, but did not have the time to do a 'real' safari from Johannesburg. Aquila Game Reserve did not disappoint! It took just over 2 hours to drive from Cape Town through the... more

Great reserve, excellent staff, food and accommodation. Good reserve if you want to go close to Cape Town. Drive is breathtaking. Keep in mind that this a stocked reserve animals are brought in. As you don't get Giraffe in the Cape. Our only concern is that it is right off the Highway so you can hear the transport trucks at... more

The accomodation was ok but not worth the money, the staff were lovely but we found that to be the case everywhere in South Africa, the Crocodiles didn't have nearly enough room in that small enclosure, the animals looked healthy although you got the impression they were planted in places for your arrival, but really angered me was the 7... more

My partner and I had an overnight stay at Aquila, and as others have said, it's not the Kruger (which many friends who have been say is way too expensive), but a smallish private game reserve, that's what you have to keep in mind! We really enjoyed our stay. I agree about the 'sparkling wine', but i think that's being... more
