So many places to visit in Scotland you could spend a lifetime here and not see half of it. I am English and came for a weeks holiday in 2007 and 'forgot' to go home. Always think The Highlands are rather like country life was in England 50 years ago. I always think the scenery in Cornwall is wonderful but... More

Four of us, experienced summer walkers, came up and spent a weekend doing the winter walking skills course with Andreas. Absolutely fabulous. Andreas has a very practical style, he gets you out on the hills and on the snow very quickly, but all the time you are learning. On the walk in he is doing navigation work, pacing, timing and... This year in August we went on some exhausting and demanding but seriously interesting and exciting hiking tours on the Isles of Mull and Skye together with Andreas Heinzl. He headed us through the unspoiled countryside of Scotland far away from the usual and crowded tourist tracks. We got used to muddy and wet feet, and after a while it... More

This trip went ahead despite me being the only customer. The sea was calm and the wind was light helping us to make excellent progress on our journey from Elgol to Kyleakin. So much so that we arrived a day earlier than planned and carried on to Plockton for our final night. Excellent scenery and superb views of wildlife including... More

This time I booked the wilderness hillwalking tour. 3 days which have been again absolutely fantastic! Walking and camping amidst impressive scenery, weather which has shone its sunny face and even the midges decided not to bother us much. Finally to complete the picture, it is necessary to mention that Andreas has proved once more as an excellent and attentive... More

What a fantastic weekend! We booked on to the Winter Skills weekend course in January and couldn't have asked for a better time. Andreas is knowledgable, hilarious and an extremely good teacher. We will contact Highland Ascent without hesitation when we return to Scotland.

Three hill walking trips with Andreas within 2 weeks. Every tour was unique and well adjusted to weather - Scotland weather at its finest ;o) - as well as the personal condition. Hence it was absolutely enjoyable from the first to the last minute. I will do it most definitely again next year!

Andreas took us on a 2-day sea kayaking trip around the Summer Isles during August 2011. He arranged the trip specifically to fit in with our travel plans and put a custom itinerary together, based on our previous skills and experience. He even arranged for blue skies and calm seas! We had a fantastic time, exploring the coastline and the... More

I was visiting UK from Australia and had booked Andreas at Highland Ascent for a 3 day sea kayaking trip around the southern edge of Skye. This was an awesome experience, much enhanced by the excellent sea kayak and camping equipment supplied, Andreas's professional guiding skills and in depth knowledge of the area. Highly recommended.
