Rather than drive all the way to Alexandria bay, why not hop across the channel to Cape Vincent USA (and on to Watertown, etc.)|? Price is roughly comparable when you factor in the cost of gas, and you are doing the environment a small kindness.

When you take Hornes Ferry from Cape Vincent to Wolfe Island, it is a nice 10 minute adventure. George, the captain does not talk alot but has heart of gold. willing to help anyone, and is very accommadating. Bruce, the co-pilot, a little more open, is a great guy.
Just as handy and helpful and informative about the Island.

We get tired of long waits to deal with stressed out customs and immigration officials and we also aren't big fans of superhighways. If you have the time, this quaint ferry service solves both problems. Going back and forth all day between Wolfe Island, ON in the middle of the St. Lawrence River and Cape Vincent, NY, the ferry offers...
