Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary in South Africa is the World’s first free-roaming, multi-species primate sanctuary. Experienced rangers guide one-hour tours through Monkeyland’s indigenous forest in English, Afrikaans, German, Italian, French, Italian and Spanish. More than 450 primates free-roam the Monkeyland’s forest. The sanctuary is situated 16km East of Plettenberg Bay off the N2.

We really enjoyed this trip - walking through the forest and seeing several species of monkeys with a guided tour from friendly and very knowledgeable guide. Best way to see these monkeys and apes. Small enough groups to not disturb them too much so you could get really close. Highly recommend for all ages!

This turned out ot be one of the BEST day trips I have ever made! The one hour guided tour through the sanctuary was amazing and our guide - (I think his name was Surgeon - apologies if the spelling is wrong) - was absolutely splendid.....really informative and not at all patronising. At a reasonable entry fee, you have a 1 hour guided walk through the enclosure housing 11 species of monkeys (mostly not indigenous to South Africa). Ir is great fun, and not only for the kids. If you stay around the restaurant before or after the tour, you can have further good sightings of the monkeys.

Our daugther and husband went there ,abes first visit in march ,loved every minute ,ITS a fascinating place we just love it ,OUR LAST VISIT was 3 years ago with our grandson and son , he is returning to sa now 6yrs and wonts to return yes little one remembers it .

Our visit to Monkeyland was a fascinating experiance and one very much enjoyed by our 2 young kids. Our guide was excellent and the facility was top class. we were fortunate enough to spot all the different species at monkeyland even those in liimited numbers. well worth the visit.

Changed a bit since we were there a couple of years ago, since they do not buy any monkeys and only take from zoo’s and monkeys from previous private ownership the species change from time to time. We went with our kids this time and they enjoyed it a lot – it really is special to get so close to...
