We drove from Ponce through Adjuntas to the Arecibo Observatory, and really enjoyed the mountain scenery and the many glimpses of life in rural Puerto Rico. It's a long, steep stairway and pavement climb from the parking lot to the observatory, but there are vans and drivers on call to accommodate those unable to meet this challenge. Once there, we... I liked the concept of the park which is kind of historic. There were a few surprises there. however you need to do the looking around since there are no guides and you may loose up on enjoying some of the park's features. More

As a photographer and an earth scientist, the Arecibo Radio Telescope is about as good as it gets. The setting, in the karst terrain of central Puerto Rico, is breathtaking with rounded hills and steep-sided valleys mantled with lush tropical vegetation. Add to this the enormity of the worlds largest radio telescope, and you have a truly spectacular venue. I... More

There were five of us seeing the observatory, some liked it more than others. We have two teenage boys who love science and thought this was great. I thought that the entry way with all of the information and activities looked a lot like a high school science fair. It cost us $50 to get in. I think it might... More

It was $10.00 to get in, a little pricey. They had a small hands on musuem and gift shop. The satellite was really cool to see because it was really large but I would not waste my money to see this or take any of my family that comes to visit to see it. More

The Arecibo Observatory is very much worth the journey through the mountains and tropical forests to get there! The radiotelescope is breathtaking in its size and complexity. There is a fairly steep half mile walk up to the Visitor's Center, and you are not allowed to carry a handbag, backpack or other bags to the Center. There's also no cell... More

A gentle breeze, tropical birds singing and mist in the hills. The drive here was almost as fun as seeing this wonderful scientific landmark. Our accidental upgrade to a convertable was pure serindipity here. Beware to those who cannot track up the hill. We saw one elderly gentleman get back in his car because his knees could not handle the... More
