We hiked up the Beehive Trail. It's pretty steep, but short, so only if you are comfortable climbing up open rock and using metal ladders and railings to get up should you attempt this hike. Once you are at the top, you have beautiful views of the park and the water. The way down is much easier on the Bowl... more

I climbed the Beehive Trail last Saturday with a friend. We're both a bit afraid of heights and had some reservations, but it was a gorgeous day so we decided to go for it. It didn't help that we encountered a crying woman near the beginning of the trail who had gotten so scared she had to turn back. As... more

This hike was our favorite part of the trip. Yes, the height might be a little disconcerting at a few points, but really you are in no danger. Just take it slow and you'll be just fine. Takes only about 25 min to go up, and you go down a gentle hike on the back of the mountain. The views... more

This climb is more psychologically challenging than technically or physically challenging. The only technical challenge it poses are that some of the wrought iron ladder rungs might be spaced pretty far apart for kids under 10 and require some thought first about how to attack them ("ok, put your right foot up on the first one, reach up with your... more

My husband and I went on this trail one morning while we were in Acadia. We had a blast. The trail is fairly difficult but is short so it isn't that bad. The worst part for me was at the beginning of the trail there is an iron ladder than you have to walk across with a drop below it.... more

It's not stamina that you'll need on the relatively short hike, but agility. Climbing vertically with the help of iron stairs and hand rails. Gorgeous views. Definitely worth it. more

Well, obviously, I'm alive. This is the scariest hike I've ever been on. I literally cried and had panic attacks from how scared I was completing this hike. The only thing that kept pushing me farther was the fact that going back would have definitely caused my demise while going on would only probably cause it. The views at the... more

You reach these trails from the Sand beach parking lot. Walk back up to the road and the trailhead is on the other side. Follow the Mount Gorham trail to the sign for Beehive. Be Aware! The Beehive Trail is one of the trails in the park that is very steep and has iron rung ladders that you use to... more
