Fun little hike. Got some great pictures! Sandy trail and not that far off the road- you can see the arch as you drive up to the parking area. Go early to avoid having a bad time finding a parking place....(seems funny that far out that should be a problem, but its a pretty popular spot!) More

It was already very warm in middle of May, but great weather otherwise. Arrived on early Friday hoping to find a camping spot or motel (being retired...lost track of what day it was!). The motels and camp sites outside the park were totally filled and the ones inside of the park take reservations well in advance. Went further north/east of... More

Arches National Park is probably one of the most famous parks in the US Southwest apart from the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley, and with good reason. It offers a most stunning and breathtaking, not to say almost overwhelming collection of sandstone arches, windows, pinnacles and other formations you'd think were dreamed up by Spielberg and Lucas for some alien... The hike out to Double O Arch is 4 miles round trip and you will need good shoes (no sandals or flipflops). This hike really starts after you pass Landscape Arch. The trail does become challenging as you will climb over sandstone rocks and slickrock. Footing is rather rocky and you will be exposed to some rock scrambling and narrow... More

This hike is listed as strenuous in the park guide but it really isn't that difficult. Wear walking or hiking shoes but the scrambling over rocks is fun and there really aren't any really steep parts of the trail. There are also a number of short side trips so in all you can see 5 or 6 different arches. You... More

As mentioned in a previous review, the walk along the rock fin is more interesting than the arch itself. Me (48) and my two teen daughters did this hike at sunset. The views from the trail were some of the best views I have ever seen. Utterly amazing. If heights bother you, you will not enjoy walking the fin, but... More

Getting to Double O Arch is half the fun. It passes Landscape Arch, Partition Arch and a couple others. Wall Arch collapsed in '08 and blocked the old trail - so now the new trail goes straight up to the top of some sandstone fins that drop off 50' on either side. The views are GREAT from up here, and... More
