We went to Denali this past summer and it was a great experience. Of course we didn't see all of the animals on everyone's list. (We did not see any wolves.) However, it was still a wonderful experience. We took the green Denali Shuttle bus and were not disappointed. We went all the way to Wonder Lake. I don't know... more

The big green park owned/operated buses are OK. Not any luxury in any sense. During the summer if the road is dry, there is dust, dust, dust. On our visit in September of 06 there was some mild rain for the day priot to our visit and some during our trip. Of course you do have the options of short... more

Denali National Park road is breath-taking scenery and awesome wildlife viewed from the safety of a tour bus. We had the very best views of Mt McKinley and we saw Bears, Moose, Caribou and Hare along with a variety of hawks and eagles. The bus ride was thrilling and scary because you are on narrow dirt roads that just happen... more

My wife and I visited Denali National Park in mid-August and took the Tundra Wilderness Tour, included as part of our Holland America Alaska Cruisetour package. The tour lasted about 7 hours and went about 70 miles into the park. The landscape with rivers, valleys, mountains, and the color was breathtaking. We also were able to see caribou, grizzly bears, wolves,... more

My fiance and I visited Denali National Park in early September 2009. We had set aside 3 days to visit the park, so we to purchased tickets to take the green shuttle bus out to two of the destinations out on the road - Wonderlake (day 1) and Toklat River (day 2). Given that the green shuttle buses were the... more

We decided since we only had two days to go all the way on the Park Road. The only way to do this is to go with one of two private companies. We picked Katishna Roadhouse Day Trip and it was wonderful. We saw tons of wildlife and everything that if you go with the park, but we also got... more

After reading the Trip Advisor forum, I chose to take my family of five (children 8, 6 and 2) on the Eielson Shutle bus, leaving at 7.30am. I was concerned about the idea of 3 children on a bus for 8hrs roundtrip, but took the advice that if it didn't work out we could always get off and catch another... more

As part of our Alaskan cruise tour, my wife and I stayed at the Denali Princess Lodge for two nights. Included in our package was the Park Road tour through Denali. This tour exceeded our expectations. Honestly, I was not excited about spending the entire ride on old school buses, but it really wasn't that uncomfortable. We saw grizzly bears... more

We've been to Alaska twice, first in 2005 with just my husband & I, then this July/early August as part of a 16 member extended family group. Both times the park road has been the best part of our tour. We took the 530 am Tundra Wilderness tour both times and saw lots of wild life. I considered taking the... more

Denali Park will hype it's "no-trails" policy by encouraging people to just step off the bus and go for a hike. This spin sounds appealing but there's a good reason why we didn't actually see anyone doing this (except us) so, caution, read between the lines. Hiking in true wildness (which it is) is no different than it was 100... more
