What a fantastic way to see such an stunning preserve. You can choose between tours and shuttles. Tours are narrated predetermined locations in which you stay on one bus the entire duration of the trip. Shuttles allow you to stay on for the whole trip or to get off, take in some scenery or hike, then catch another shuttle. We... more

Either drive in 15 miles and do the savage river hike (3 miles) for a seven day pass for $20 or pay $25 for a 6 hr, 55mi bus tour, $30, 8hr. 68mi bus tour or $35, 10-12hr. 89mi bus tour. We did the 55 miles (farthest possible due to damage in late May) and saw not only stunning scenary,... more

Unbelievable wildlife viewing and most spectacular scenery anywhere. Denali National Park is the most magnificent place I have every been and the road system through the park is easy to use, affordable, and flexible. Buy your tickets ahead of time and just tell the driver when you see a spot you would like to explore on your own. Instead of... more

We rode the green shuttle bus leaving the Wilderness Access Center at 6:30 AM, June 26, 2008. The bus wasn't crowded, but there were some kids who were noisy part of the way. The driver was very knowledgeable and the occupants voted for him to provide a running commentary during the trip. I think his name was Denny, and he... more

After much research we chose the green shuttle bus. Everyone said "school bus" and I expected hard bench seats - but they were quite satisfactorily comfortable semi-coach seats. On the way out, lots of scenery, a red fox, some distant grizzlies ... and none of us expected to see the mountain on this gray day. The Polychrome Range was wonderful.... more

This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. The feeling of being in this remote and vast wild place is indescribable. We took the 9:30am shuttle bus and the wildlife viewing was great. We got to see 4 grizzly bears, including two playful cubs, a caribou herd, two moose, a red fox, a lynx (our... more

I took the fish creek turnaround with my boyfriend on June 5th and it was great! We saw tons of wildlife (I posted pictures in my review of the visitors center, thinking that that was the place to post reviews for the park-offered bus tours), went on lots of cool hiking adventures, and heard great narratives as we drove through... more

After driving so much to get to Denali, I was concerned that the kids would not like the bus trip, but I was sooo wrong! We went on the 6am trip to Eielson Visitor Center. It was just under $40 each. It had just opened up on June 8 and we were there on June 16. The trip is 8... more

We spent a few days in Denali, and during that time, we took both the Tundra Wilderness Tour and the shuttle bus out to the new Eielson Visitor Center. For the difference in money, I would suggest taking the shuttle bus and save the extra $80 for the tour. While the tour does include a box lunch of reindeer sausage,... more
