This area is beautiful, peaceful, and a silent wonder of nature. It has abundant wildlife, clean air, vistas that go on forever, flowers, forest, waterfalls, streams, and trails to places where you'll find peace and quiet. more

Glacier National Park is a beautiful, wild park with lots to see and do (scenic drives, nature walks, day hikes, multi-day treks). It's especially well-suited to off-the-beaten-track hiking, with over 700 miles of trails and numerous backcountry campsites. It's also famous for its flora and especially its fauna, including several kinds of bear. Sadly, the namesake glaciers are melting fast... more

Glaciers are rapidly retreating. If you want to see the park with glaciers, go now--in a couple of decades, they probably will be gone. Mountain goats browse beside the trail near Going-to-the-Sun highway and visitor center, mountain sheep browse nearby. Grizzlies can be encountered (and pose a danger if they're surprised), and much other wildlife can be seen. Campgrounds are... more

This is my favorite place on earth. I am not a nature buff, but this place calls me. My wife loves it here as well, but not enough to move here despite my best efforts. It is indescribable, and you won't be disappointed when you come. We come nearly annually, and every visit has been as sublime an experience as... more

Glacier National Park is one of the most spectacular national parks in the United States. This unique landscape, layered and carved over billions of years, is home to hundreds of challenging trails, pristine lakes, and beautiful wildlife. Going to the Sun Road, which bisects the park, takes you from the mild, rainy climate of the park's western end, to the... more

I backpacked with my 14 year old son for 8 days in August, 2009. The scenery is absolutely spectacular. As one of the rangers said, "You can't get a bad trail in Glacier"...which is good, because the itinerary which I'd set up months in advance was cancelled due to grizzly bear activity. We did an 8 day, 7 night trek,... more

We were so lucky the week we were there (Sept 21-27). The weather was great and the trees were golden in color. We spent 3 days in the Park. There were only a few people since the Park was closing for the season but it was a perfect time. more

In August we visited the Park for 2.5 weeks. We saw every kind of wildlife imaginable, took some really great hikes and learned about Montana's Native American culture. It was awesome for taking pictures, even a novice would feel like a pro with the kind of scenery that was everywhere you looked. We rented a house for convenience, which was... more

Stayed in the park from September 19-22. Terrific weather, no crowds, yet not deserted either. Temperature was in the 70s, yet there was about an inch of snow/slush up at Logan Pass, so pack accordingly. Not much happening at St. Mary Lake as the boats had stopped running. We did take a ride on the D'Smet on Lake McDonald. The... more
