Just got back yesterday from my trip to havasupai falls. It was an amazing experience! Lets start with the drive in. I drove in late on a Thursday night planing on sleeping in my truck at the hilltop and hiking out at first light. The drive was not bad but once you hit Indian Road 18 take your time as... more

Havasupai trip: Just returned a week ago from a week long trip to Grand Canyon and Havasupai. After spending a couple nights on the South Rim at El Tovar, we got up in the morning to drive to the Hualapai hilltop from which one begins the descent into the canyon one way or another. It took about 3 good hours... more

August 17 2008 a flood swept through Havasu Canyon after heavy thunderstorms dropped more than 6 inchs of rain on the 3000 square mile watershed. The flood did moderate damage in Supai Village. At the first escarpment a mile north of the village the water rechanneled east from Navajo Falls, and cut into sediment laid down by many previous floods.... more

the falls are certainly pretty, but sadly the management of the havasupai tribal council makes this excursion a risk not worth taking. the chronically rude staffers at the lodge, for example, would hardly be worth mentioning if it didn't serve as a precursor to the irresponsibility ahead. the tribal elders are more than willing to shut down for even the... more

We truly had the trip of a lifetime (things that we will remember forever, both good and bad). When I was planning this trip, I did a tremendous amount of research trying to be as prepared as possible. We went with 2 families of 4 that included 4 teenage girls. One of my goals in writing this review is to... more

We travelled to Havasupai Falls the second week of July, as a group of 6. We started hiking out at 5am, and arrived at the falls around 11am. This was far too late to leave to avoid the heat, we should have left at least another hour earlier. In total it took us 4 hours and 30 minutes to hike... more

This place is truly beautiful. Me and 3 friends hiked in on Sunday and hiked out the next day which I would not recommend since it was not nearly enough to really enjoy the falls. The town itself is pretty terrible, despite the exorbitant amounts of money that the locals take in every year from tourism and from the US... more

I spent 3 days and 2 nights backpacking the havasupai falls and it was just extremely amazing! The hike is was pretty long (esp. with a 40 lb. pack) but it was worth every inch of that walk! I would definately go to the first 2 water falls because they were amazing...but I hiked 3 mile to the 3rd and... more

We forked out the $500 per person for the two of us to take a helicopter into the Havasupai Village. While it's a lot of money, especially since it doesn't include lunch or a guide or anything other than transportation, this was our favorite of our whole Grand Canyon (and all of AZ) trip! Once we landed, there wasn't much... more

While the scenery is amazing, Havasu falls has been over-crowded and over-commercialized. You will not find many backpackers on the trail as most of them get their family sized coolers and picnic chailrs flown of muled in. The campround is packed on weekends and site-finding is difficult. If you are looking to get away from a crowded city, this is... more
