This place is amazing. The drive was pretty good until we got to the last few miles. We have a 4x4 pickup truck, so it was not a concern for us, just would not want to have a non 4 x 4. We went on a short hike and saw the dramatic drop down to the river, about 3,000 feet.... more

My family was overcome by the beauty and isolation of this area. The spectacular views of the Grand Canyon were what beckoned us to this site but there is just so much more to observe and cherish. A word of caution. Not recommended for vehicles with low clearance. Past the Rangers Station, less than 5 miles from the view point,... more

Mile after dusty mile, Mount Trumbull initially 50 miles away still looks 50 miles away after an hour of riding. Dust, rock, and endless washboards... The only two vehicles I seen were US Gov. vans on the way out as I went in. The closer you get the worse a "bad" road gets. My trip was in July 08, so... more

We drove there in late October with perfect weather. The road was dry and for the most part easy and we drove at 40-50 mph most of the way. The last couple of miles however become curvy and steep with some sheet rock steps to drive over, being a city boy I was glad we had our Dodge Ram 4x4.... more

It took me about three hours to get there over unpaved road after I left the pavement West of Fredonia, AZ. Most of the dirt road is well maintained, however I encountered lots... more

It’s simply just an incredible place. Would encourage you not to go because like most of the Grand Canyon, it has way too many visitors. However, if you stick with it, its well worth the trip. My most recent visit was November, 2007 Surprising is the amount of day trippers. Weekends are busy. Busy is a relative term, but its... more

The two hour drive on a dirt / rock road is worth every mile of the drive. This remote overlook is so majestic and beautiful. Next time there I think we will do the hike down to Lava Falls. We had the overlook to ourselves for three hours. more
