We always stop here first when we are going hiking. The rangers give out updates on bears, trails, and anything to watch out for. We enjoy supporting the Park too. We have a number of books and goodies from the gift store. You can get detailed trail maps as well. More

This is the best place to stop if you want to get the best information about exploring the Smokies. There are some free flyers to give you some general information. There are also a lot of little books that you can buy for a dollar that will take you on a driving tour of many of the top destinations in... More

We have to stop at Sugarlands every year when we pass it. My children even ask! The knowledge about the animals, plants, insects and people who used to live here is unbelievable! More

This visitor center is located near Gatlinburg. Very nice with great facilities and a nice little gift shop but not nearly as much of an attraction in and of itself as the Oconaluftee Visitor's Center near the Cherokee, NC entrance to the park. Still worth a visit but you don't need to plan on spending much time here. More

My family recently went on vacation for a week to Gatlinburg area, Tennessee. It was great experience to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (800+ sq. mi park was established in 1934 and dedicated by President Franklin Roosevelt). We learned a lot by visiting this visitors center. The workers there are very helpful. There is a small museum and we... More
