The Cades Cove area is obviously a very popular area of the park. My husband and I went to Cades Cove around 7:00 AM on Thanksgiving to hike this trail. It is a very nice trail, with several tree bridges along the way. We were the first ones on the trail that morning but once we arrived at the waterfall... more

We did this trail on Jul3, 3009. We started late @ 3pm. The streams along the way at the beginning of the trail were very beautiful. We reached alum cave at 4:30 and ate our lunch. We were contemplating whether to hike back or to go all the way to the top. We were afraid that it may get dark... more

This hike is one of the best in the whole park, and the rewards throughout the hike and well worth some steep and narrow trails. Alum Cave is 2.25 miles from the parking area, and Arch Rock is another good photo opportunity along the trail about 1.25 miles up from the parking area. There are some great views along the... more

Aren't the Smokey Mountains beautiful? We go to Florida every year now, for spring break with our children and we absolutely have to go through the mountains either going or coming home. I have hiked the Alum Cave Trail at least five times and regard it as one of my favorite trails, along with Chimney Tops, and the Appalachian Trail.
