The Cades Cove area is obviously a very popular area of the park. My husband and I went to Cades Cove around 7:00 AM on Thanksgiving to hike this trail. We did this trail on Jul3, 3009. We started late @ 3pm. The streams along the way at the beginning of the trail were very beautiful. We reached alum cave at 4:30 and ate our lunch. This hike is one of the best in the whole park, and the rewards throughout the hike and well worth some steep and narrow trails. I have hiked the Alum Cave Trail at least five times and regard it as one of my favorite trails, along with Chimney Tops, and the Appalachian Trail.
