My husband and I decided to hike to Laurel Falls while we were in town over the July 4th holiday week/weekend. To get to Laurel Falls, you turn right at the Sugarlands Visitor Center and drive down Little River Rd. about 3-4 miles before you will see the sign for the Laurel Falls trailhead & roadside parking area. We arrived... more

I'm not an outdoors girl at all but after seeing a postcard of these falls, I decided it was worth the hike. It is pretty much all uphill on the way there but as previously stated there are places to rest. We took a few pictures of our group "rock climbing" on the trail. It looks impressive though we were... more

This trail was our first stop after leaving the visitor center. It is a crowded trail but its not to hard of a hike to make and well worth the trip. However there are some steep places as you get closer to the top so parents please hang onto your children. We did see a mama bear and her three... more

I really wanted to go on a hike in the Smoky Mountains, but my husband is not to out-doorsy. He said he would do this one beacuse it was only a mile and a half. I'm glad we did. We did have to rest a couple times because it was hot and totally uphill getting to the falls. The trail... more

To get to Laurel Falls, you go south out of Gatlinburg, and take the first right (Little River Road) passed the Sugarland Visitor Center. Around 6-7 miles that way, you will pass the Laurel Falls trailhead on your right. I've read alot of reviews saying it's an easy hike, and how people in a wheelchair could do it. I find... more

We absolutely loved the falls! It was a great little hike. It got your heart pumping. The hike up was steep and a little slow going but the scenery was beautiful. We went late in the day and there were not many people up there. If you visit this part of the country this little hike is a must. Beware... more

My husband, Kids (ages 3,6,8) and my in-laws hiked to the Falls. I would recommed you make the hike. The hike was great. I was a 1.5 mile hike up to the falls. The trail was somewhat narrow. You must pay attention. The walk was beautiful. My 6 and 8 year old had no problem on the hike. Half way... more

We did this hike, and, while crowded, it is definitely worth it to see the falls. As some have said, if you are in poor physical condition this hike is probably moderate, not easy, but there are plenty of places to take breaks and it is certainly doable for almost anyone. Like the poster below, we brought a picnic lunch,... more

I take this hike everytime I'm in the Smokies! Trail is paved and is a little over a mile (each way) with about a three hundred foot incline. Relatively easy to travel, but because of this and the fact that it is near the Sugarands Welcome Center, it is very crowded! People of all ages and sizes can walk this... more

I meant to put my review under Laurel Falls, but accidentally submitted it under Great Smoky Mountain National Park, so people didn't know which falls I was talking about. My review is simply to give overweight people a heads up that this will not be an easy hike for you. The thing that makes it easy is that the trail... more
