This has to be my favorite road to drive while in the Smoky Mountains. The views were beautiful and the weather was perfect. The people that stopped on the road for a rest or for pictures were all very nice and spoke to you easily. I went the first week of May in 2008. The weather was cool and there... more

Call the Great Smoky Mountians National park and ask to order Newfound Gap road Auto tour booklet. 865-436-0120 or www.SmokiesStore.org. It is $1.00. It gives you milage point to point driving directions. It tells you where to park and pull off. It tells where to hike and what to see. It took us from Sugarland Visitor Center to Indian Reservation... more
