We followed the Pu'u Huluhulu trail in a search for geo-caching sites. Really nice hike but beware of the last few hundred feet as it gets pretty steep. View from the top is well worth the climb.

My wife and I hiked this trail during our recent visit to Volcano National Park and loved it.
The trail travels along a 1970s lava flow. That is recent enough that landscape is mostly just raw volcanic rock, but old enough that plants are just starting to grow. The day we hiked it was cool and foggy, so the black...
