I guess you could dismiss the Hoh as an overgrown forest with big trees in it, but the size and age of the trees, and the setting, and the fascinating insights into the ecosystem offered by our guide, combined to strike awe in our hearts. We - two 40-something couples - didn't have children to watch while we walked, and... more

I guess since I'm from southern California, I can be easily impressed by greenery (having lived in semi-desert conditions my whole life). But there's a lush, primeval quality to the Hoh rainforest that I loved when we visited. Obviously it's not ideal hiking conditions when it rains, but most of the trails (with the exception of the Hoh River Trail)... more

Not sure what is up with the past two reviewers. Although not the most beautiful sites in the Park (Hurricane Ridge, Rialto Beach and Sol Duc Falls were all better) it is hard not to appreciated the beauty of this rain forest. The size of the trees were quite impressive, the trails were fun and offered some interesting views. Make... more

I visited at about the same time as the prior reviewer, and much to my surprise, I came to the same conclusion----nothing special. My suspicion is that the recent severe and prolonged drought may have altered what one sees this year. It was clear that the boardwalks are usually soaked----but they were dry for us in July 2009. It was... more

Its all trees, greenery so what don't you find elsewhere? I don't think this is something too great just another forest ,hall of mosses and another short trail from visitor center are okay but nothing great .I would never come back to see this stuff again.Probably you have never seen greenery anywhere else if you are awestruck about these. I guess... more

I don't wanna say much. This place is a must GO, if you are visiting Olympic National Park. Last 20 miles drive into rain forest was enjoyable and trails were full of huge green trees. I really liked it and will go again. more

No, it's not tropical, but it is a Beautiful rainforest. It's hard to describe the primal beauty of this locale, because there is so much to marvel at. Make sure you wear your walking shoes and the mosquito repellent, because you'll need both. You may also need an umbrella (we didn't). We walked the Hall of Mosses, which was beautiful,... more

We did the Hall of Mosses trail and part way up the river trail. This part of the ONP is simply beautiful. The hikes are easy and you'll see things you won't see anywhere else. No, it is not a jungle, and yes there are lots of trees, but the shades of green are endless and the moss just fascinating.... more

If you are a Washington resident, you will probably not be real impressed with the Hoh Rainforest. I am a 20 year resident. I fish quite a bit, so I'm around a lot of beautiful river valleys in Washington that are similar to the Hoh Rainforest. The very large Sitka Spruce trees were impressive. Worth the drive if you are... more

We spent a full day and hit all three components of the Olympic National Park (mountain-Hurricane Ridge, rain forest-Hoh Rain Forest, and ocean-Rialto Beach). Our 2nd stop, out of three, was to the Hoh Rain Forest. In all, we probably spent about 2 hours walking the trails with our kids 2yo & 6yo. There are thousands of trees, many of... more
