We spent one full day in Olympic Nation Park and hit all three elements (Hurricane Ridge-mountain, Hoh Rain Forest-rain forest, Rialto Beach-ocean). Hurricane Ridge was our first stop out of three. Hurricane Ridge is about an hour and a half drive up the mountains from Port Angeles. I'd consider the drive to be mountain driving, it's slow but very beautiful.... more

With spectacular views from the visitors center and lots of hiking from there, you can't go wrong. Flowers, deer, mountains, etc. We did this as a day trip from a family reunion 3 hours away and kicked ourselves for not allowing at least a couple of days in the park. The Meadows Trails were very nice. One still had very... more

WOW!! It was June and there was snow. While it took longer for us to get to the top than planned, the view, the experence was breath taking. There was a good bit of cloud cover so we did not get the view all the pictures show. We did get to see a bear cub near the visitor center. My... more

Although we'd heard about the road construction on the way up to Hurricane Ridge, we decided to brave it. The delays were exactly as described on the website and in their brochure -- several delays of a total of about 20 minutes. The washout of the road is pretty scary to see and it's good that they are repairing it!... more

Hurricane ridge is probably great on a clear day. Unfortunately we went when it was cloudy since it was the only day we had to go, wasnt worth it. So only go if it is a clear day. We could have spent time doing some nice hikes if I knew it was going to be so cloudy up there. I... more

What an amazing place. Beautiful views! Many trails conveniently close by! Beautiful views! Wildlife within arms reach. And even mid-July there was still a fair amount of snow in some spots. The views are of the high peaks to the south, Mt. Angeles to the north and Victoria island in the distance (on a clear day). Our weather was perfect... more

I like these mountains better than the Grand Tetons. You need a good clear day to really enjoy this part of the park. The drive up is wonderful, kinda curvey, just take it slow. There are alot of deer up here and some times they are in the road. The visitors center is really good with lots of information, I... more

Hurricane Ridge is beautiful, I am from California, and California has nothing like this, Hurricane Ridge views are beautiful and breathtaking, the visitor centre is a nice place to grab lunch and eat at the views of The Olympics. The drive to Hurricane Ridge is also very beautiful. more

We spent several hours driving the 17 miles up the mountain taking pictures and viewing the breathtaking sights. If you've never seen mountains before, or even if you have, this is a perfect spot to start. We were lucky it was a clear day, locals told us the views aren't nearly as good when the clouds are out. I would... more
