My only disappointment was that we didn't saw any bears in the wild but other than that it was breathtaking... more

The drive through Shenandoah National Park was easy and very picturesque. There was ample opportunities to stretch your legs and plenty of facilities for restroom breaks. The ranger station had an informative video about the park, as well as, brochures that made me wish we had more time to hike to the various waterfalls that are found throughout the park.... more

Started this drive from the northernmost section at Front Royal on August 4 and drove the entire length south to Waynesboro (about 105 miles). It costs $15 a carload to enter the park. Stopped at 2 of the visitors centers and plenty of overlooks throughout the drive. It took us (4 adults) about 6 hours to do the whole thing.... more

Started the drive on a rainy foggy morning in Waynesbro. Nearly didn't do it, but having spoken to really helpful man in the visitor centre we decided to drive. Are we glad we did! The rain soon stopped and the fog was very patchy. By the time we got to the Big Meadow it was clear and sunny! The wild... more

Stop to enjoy some of the pullovers and trails. We encountered some deer and also some bear up closer than we expected. Be respectful but you will get a close up of nature. The views and vistas are also memorable and you will be so glad you chose this vacation! more

I drove the Skyline Drive on a clear day. I stopped at the visitors center and asked the ranger which of the 75 overlooks I should not miss. He chuckled and said I would know when I approached them. He was wise. I ended up stopping at nearly all of them. The views were wide panoramas. The overlooks were conducive... more

Absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. I visited in the spring, so the trees weren't completely filled in yet, but the views were still amazing. The speed limit is only 35 mph, but if you drive any faster than that, you will definetely miss some great sights and also might miss seeing some deer. more

We traveled along the entire Skyline Drive on a beautiful fall Saturday in early November and enjoyed every minute of it. We were past peak for leaf viewing on the drive but got some great colors from the trees in the valleys below that change at different times. The Skyline Drive runs from Front Royal to Waynesboro or vice versa... more

I'm going to combine both the Skyline and Blue Ridge parkway as I feel they go together. We took 4 full days to drive most of the length from Front Royal Virginia to Mile post 400 on the Blue Ridge where we had to divert due to road works and really enjoyed the trip. We started on the 4th October... more

I have been on Shenandoah National park a few times and I can't just get enough. The park itself is beautiful. Once you enter Skyline Drive you have to disconnect yourself from the outside world and enjoy Nature. You can find overlooks about every mile where you can enjoy a better view of the mountains and Shenandoah Valley. The views... more
