We spent a good hour wandering around the site, taking in it's historic relevance to my current sweet-tooth. I agree, our experience of Betty's Hope would benefit from further restorations, but for now, my imagination, with the help of the photos, artifacts and signposts, was able to step back in time with what remains. well we just went at betty's hope and just took some pictures of the two windmill towers. that was enough for me. we did not go into the fenced area, just seeing the windmill was enough for me more

This is a tatty, unkempt land overgrown location, and so little of the estate is left to see, almost all the information signage is sun bleached and unreadable or damaged. We thought it a 3 star "must go" location from the guide books we had, how wrong we were. Buy history book to read on the beach if you want... more

We took Happy Trails chauffered 4 X 4 Jeep day out from Sunsail's Club Colonna (Ask Denise the rep in reception to organise this perfect way to see the Island) . Betty Hope's plantation is mentioned on most tours so looked forward to seeing the plantation. It's a small, very small museum and the remains of two windmills. Would take you ten minutes to see the lot. It really needs some investment to make it more of a tourist attraction. e.g. rebuilt the windmills, a cafe/shop and tour guide would be... more
