This was our first stop on the tour with Gordon. It costs $8/person for entrance and you see a short interactive "play" explaining the history of the island. It was then outside for some amazing shots of the scenery and views. We also visited the block house and Shirley's heights.

Has the ruins of a fort used by the British to guard the island. Good views of the English harbour. The fees for a visit to Dow 's hill / Shirley Heights (they are a short drive away from the Nelson's Dockyard) are covered with the entry fee to the Nelson's Dockyard, so it would be advisable to do them...

I too think that the I.C. is worth the 15 minutes for the commentated short history of the island. Totally NOT like a school presentation. Within a few short minutes it tries to give a balanced view of the history - and some is not very pleasant (i.e. slavery). To their credit the presentation does not dwell on the unpleasant...

The Dow's Hill Interpretation Centre offers a really beautiful view down to English Harbour, Falmouth Harbour, the Nelson's Dockyard open-air museum, to the neighbour islands Guadeloupe, Montserrat and St. Kitts and Nevis.
