I was horrified to read in the guide leaflet that this so called “wildlife reserve” actually sell the monkeys to pharmaceutical companies for animal testing and creation of polio vaccines as well as shipping them off to Zoos across the world. They also recommend barbequing and eating the green monkeys. I can’t decide if the highlight of the day was... more

The grounds are beautiful, very natural. There are tortoises walking around everywhere. The key to seeing monkeys here is to be there when they are fed, around 2pm. We got there a little before 2pm and were beginning to lose hope that we would see the monkeys, when they arrived. It was amazing to watch them come through the trees... more

visited this week , was very disappointed this is literally a park with piles of turtles ( exciting for under 5's maybe ) walking around and the monkeys come and go as they are not actually enclosed in the park so you could go and there are none there !!! There is also 1 python and 1 croc and some... more

Devote an hour and a half to this family-friendly attraction. It must be a surprise, if not relief, to many visitors to find the animals roaming around without cages (except, of course, for poisonous or otherwise aggressive animals). There is a good variety of animals but more to see in the aviary and lizard area than anywhere else. The animals... more

Great place to go. Have been to barbados 5 times now and been here 3 times, The kids love it especially when the tortoises are on the path. Make sure yougo in the morning though as it can be unbearably hot in the afternoon with not much cover. Some of the hotel kids clubs do excursions here. more

Our kids and us really enjoyed it all, monkeys can get a bit cheeky at times, of course it didn't help our kids munching on bananas at the time. We like how they had it all set up and would recommend it for anybody travelling with kids. Larry and the gang more

We spent a great 3 hours in this fairly small reserve. We were amazed to see a tortoise strolling by the entrance ( there are NO turtles) but as we got further in we found hundreds of them - I guess it was mating time as there were lots of piggyback races going on! The highlight is obviously the monkeys,... more

Just checked out the Barbados Wildlife Reserve in March 2008. It is not a huge place, but very unique. There are tons of green monkeys, turtles, rabbit/horse looking things, birds, etc just crusing along within the park boudaries. If you go, make sure you go around 2PM so you can see the feeding. That is the best time to see... more

There are turtles everywhere plus peacocks and monkeys and a few other animals. If you like turtles, you'll find them here. It's a great place to bring kids because the turtles and a few other animals are not in cages and you can run into them anywhere and everywhere. You can see monkeys roaming freely too, near feeding time is... more

This is a great place to spend a day out of the sun. It is a bit cooler here than other places on the island, and if you enjoy close encounters with beasties, this will be just your cup of tea. Go at feeding time (2pm when we were there) and you will see the green monkeys up close and... more
