We stayed in Maria la Gorda for 3 nights in June. We thought the diving and snorkelling were superb. The diving equipment is getting old, and many of the depth guages don't work - check the equipment before bringing it down to the boat, and ask for better gear if you can't read the dials. if you are thinking of driving from havana to MLG, it takes about 5 hrs, roads are not bad, but there are very few directions. dont drive above the speed limit - you will get fined. the chalets are much better than the accomodation on the beach front (ie dont ask for sea view - 5CUC extra). the dive instructors... more
