The maritime museum is located there. There are nice houses to see, but not much going on on this side of the island. It's more of a residential area, no shops or restaurants except by the water (Waaigat). More

We didn't delve too deeply into Sharloo past the museum, but some of the graffiti art is pretty amazing. More

This is an interesting area to walk around. You will find boarded up houses right next to embassies and the only public library on the island. More

North of Punda, there's the Scharloo ("Scarlo") neighboorhood with more colorful and "wedding cake" houses. More

Worth a walk around this neighborhood that was the home of the wealthy in earlier times. More

Nice to see the architecture. For taking pictures too. Go in a group or with a car for safety. You can stop anywhere near the road to take pictures. More

I would recommend seeing this section of the city by bus rather than foot - they know so much about the area and you can get a chance to see it and learn without dripping sweat or wondering what you are looking at.
