Just did the Boiling Lake hike, it was incredible. The trip is only about 7 miles round trip, can be done in 2 1/2 to 3 hours each way without a lot of rests. 6-hour hike / climb. Most people don't tell you about the climbing....you must cross two mountains (3000 foot elevation), and then proceed into the Valley of Desolation (the tough part of the "hike"). Very little flat land (all "ups" and "downs"). I have done marathons and a 50-miler...this is tougher than a marathon, but not as tough as a 50-miler.... more

During our honeymoon to Dominica, my wife and I made it to the Boiling Lake and back on 12/19/06. It was extremely difficult for us. Also quite rewarding.
