San Rafael absolutely took my breath away. There is a beautiful waterfall which falls onto rocks and forms an amazing turquoise natural swimming pool. The water is cold, which is a bit a bit of a novelty in the Dominican Republic. I swam there with my Dominican boyfriend and it was the most romantic experience of my life! more

Having lived in Dominican Republic for 6 mos back in 1998, I can say the beach at San Rafael is beautiful. Don't know about accommodations, but there is a gorgeous stone beach (nice not to get sand on everything!) with amazing 10' swells at time.
