If you call it a museum if you want. Very little to see. Just an excuse to force you into a gift shop which was way over staffed with harrassing sales people. avoid going in it if you can. Or make a be line for the exit More

The staff here were great and welcoming - they gave us a tour of the museum and then let us shop in their gift shop - the prices were a lot higher than at the jewelery store we were taken to before the museum. More

A short visit with explanations by a guide about how amber develops and the different sorts and colours. Nice little gift shop to choose any jewellry if you wish More

Interesting, but small. Only one small floor of Amber, and a basement full of cigars and rum. More

lots of good history of the amber trade. the building itself is a marvel but the shops at the exit leave a bit to be desired More

Found the jewellery very pricey at the Amber \Museum. There used to be a great stand at the Puerto Plata Airport Duty Free before the fire a few years ago. Now its no longer there. Too bad had some great prices and pieces....missed this location. More

A small museum with lots of pieces of amber, which although looks like a clear yellowish rock, is actual hardened pieces of sap from trees that used to exist in the Dominican Republic. There are actually many colors of the amber.The sap would trap insects, plants, seeds, and even lizards and preserve them. This was the basis for the movie... More
