I definitely had some reservations about doing this after reading other's reviews and watching You-Tube videos, but it was easily the high point of our week's stay in DR. Myself (moderately out-of-shape 45yo woman), husband (same) and 2 teenage boys (16 and 18 yo) did this, and had a blast! It definitely pushed my stamina and strength, and the guides... more

I signed up for thie tour through iguana mama. We did the FULL tour, and most tours are only up to the 7th waterfall. This is a tough day. It is not easy. Even the first 7 waterfalls are challenging. you really do have to have a strong physique and an above average swimmer. You basically walk through the river... more

I've done a few resort excursions in the past and during my trip in DR, I did the zip lining and the waterfalls. I have to say that the waterfalls took me by surprise. I was expecting more of a scenic tour of the waterfalls, but when they told me I needed water shoes, a life vest, and a helmet... more

Well I do agree with people that this is fun and I can see if you are an adereline junkie you'd love it. BUT there is a reason why the European/N.American/Canadian tour reps don't sell these tours - it totally wouldn't be covered by insurance. This is so dangerous, nothing too bad actually happened to me, but I take my... more

I went on this tour of the 27 waterfalls with my husband and college age kids and we all LOVED it! The guides were excellent and the surroundings were beautiful. I am not much of a water lover, but I had done the waterfall climb in Jamaica years before and thought I’d do this as a family. Let me tell... more

This was the most fun I have ever had on a trip. The guides were fabulous. It was the experience of a life time. Our group had a blast. we ranged in age from fourtyish to fifty five and had no trouble at all . When you first see it, you do wonder should I do this? ButI am so... more

Jan 09 - I undertook to attempt all 27 waterfalls with my female partner in crime. We began by reaching the visitor lodge ourselves by taking a gua-gua (local bus) from our base in Sosua to Puerto Plata, then another gua-gua towards Imbert (Servicios Locales from Javillo Tours gua-gua stop in Puerto Plata). This was easy and inexpensive. The bus... more

We went to 27 waterfalls back in Nov 2007. I would definitely recommend this, ONLY to the fit, as you do need to use your core muscles including your arms & legs (see "YouTube" video footage). The whole experience lasted approx 31/2 to 4 hours, so make sure you've have been fed & watered before you go, you will expend... more

Some family members and I drove to this place in our rental car. This seemed like the best way to avoid the tours (which I wouldn't recommend - try to get there yourself and go with one of their tour guides who are awesome). It is a rigorous activity but it's so beautiful and surreal (Am I REALLY climbing up... more

I signed up for this tour with "jeep safari" through the resort I was staying at. The 27 waterfalls is not for the faint of heart, or out of shape person. The main problem I had was that we were not told ahead of time the full extent of what this entailed, and had I known, I may not have... more
