We paid $33 each to for the Black River tour which also included seeing YS Falls. Our guide was a nice young kid who was really knowledgeable about the river and the ecology. It was REALLY cool seeing crocs close up and the HUGE mangroves. Because of the methane that the peat gives off they have a lot of spontaneous... more

We combined this "Safari" with a trip to the YS Falls and a visit to the Appleton Rum factory. The long drive from Negril means you'll want to get it in as much as you can into each excursion! You ride in a comfortable pontoon boat with a knowledgeable river guide, who points out interesting plants, birds, the history of... more

If you want to go on the black river, there are a couple of official tour operators, who will take you for $30 to $40 each. They're located on the east bank of the river. We decided to go with a local. Rasta Tours. We paid $30 for both of us including tip. If you drive to Black River, from... more

This was an awesome excursion. Our guide Roger was definitely the best guide. He was knowledgeable and informative and great with the kids (there were 8 in our group) we saw a bunch of crocs, birds and interesting trees and plants, and our guide hand fed the crocs. It made for great pictures. We took pictures in the Mangrove trees... more

Great town. Small quaint. Had all necessities, shopping, grocery, great market, hardware. Fishing village-not for swimming. Views of beach & ocean are lovely. Very peaceful & quiet here. I will return often. more

We just returned from a stay in Negril. We booked this as a tour with the Y/S Falls. Beware if you get carsick--it is a 1 1/2 hour ride from Negril. A very rough 1 1/2 hours, but very educational. We enjoyed the Black River. We saw about 8 crocodiles, a few of which our guide hand-fed. The scenery was... more

Our trip to the black river was excellent. We took a hour and a half trip in a motorised boat, with a friendly guide. Our guide provided running commentary on both the ecology and history of the area. We did get some good sightings of the crocodiles. Our boat stopped so we could get some good pictures of the crocs.... more

We loved our trip on the black river. We saw plenty of wildlife in its natural habitat and managed to get really close to the crocodiles. We really enjoyed the day far more than the Dunns River Falls excursion. It cost around $90 dollars but included lunch and a trip to the Appleton Rum Factory and we were quite some... more

We ported at Montego Bay on a Carnival cruise and had a bus driver drive us an hour and half to Negril to float down the Black River. All I can say is, SCAREY! Don't EVER EVER EVER go here if you are going to be riding or driving somewhere. I prayed the whole time that I would make it... more
