Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had the most amazing day at this beach. There were security guards at the entrance and they directed us to the entrance where we paid $10 (US) each. There was a restaurant/snack bar which served freshly cooked food all day and this included a delicious lobster dish and traditional Jamaican food. Contrary to other reviews we actually found the prices ok compared to the prices we had experienced in Kingston. There were lifeguards every 50 metres which helped us to feel safe in the sea. There are toilets and showers and everything clean and tidy. Some reviews report excessive sea weed, we did not experience this and there was a few bits here and there however this did not detract from the wonderful experience.
Sunbeds are included and you can drag them to wherever you would like them on the beach. We headed for a bit of shade by life guard station.
The beach had lots of families and couples. In the late afternoon many people were arriving for family bbqs and picnics. There was music played all day and this was different reggae artists. Nothing too hardcore and I didn’t once wish it could be turned off.
A perfect day with my daughter and can’t wait to visit again if I get the opportunity to go back to Jamaica.

We used to visit this beach at least once per month for as long as I can remember First visit since reopened after Covid. This was on a Wednesday as they are closed Mon and Tues The increased entrance fees covered beach lounge chair and free wifi. Nice touch. However, meals are now limited to one provider instead of three previously; and overpriced. Fresh fish meals are a huge pull factor at this beach. There was only 1 single fish meal available and it was from frozen fish so it took over 45 minutes be prepared. Beach venue has lost its vibes. There was a good energy before with good music in background. It was a very windy day with sand flying. Rough waves and sargassum made the water inaccessible. Recommend staff training to understand how to make patrons feel helped. Manager on duty tried to make visit comfortable.

Questions I wanted answered:

1. Beach is cleaned and maintain. They have no control over sargassum.

2. You can carry your own food. Food is also sold on properly but is expensive.

3. Entrance fees include a lounge chair.

4. Wifi works.

5. Bathrooms are fairly clean.

6. Adequate parking available.

The beach is expensive to access (1000 jmd) compared to the neighbour beach 200 jmd. The beach if privately owned is dirty with broken bottles and garbage along the shore. Went with the family and the set up is just not great considering it privately owned. AND THEN! The food situation was horrible! Customer service was ok but waiting 2 1/2 hours for food?! Please don’t go there hungry or you might starve. On top of waiting for the food it wasn’t even good. Brought it home but don’t believe I will eat it. The fried fish was way over fried and the steam fish was bland and very unappealing and unappetizing. If we hadn’t paid the hefty entry fee, we could have went somewhere else, but we were stuck. Also, there is NO bar to get a good drink. And no variety of food stalls , just the one. There was no where to get a snack on the beach while waiting thr 2 1/2 hours for food. I am glad I went to see what it was about but wouldn’t recommend and will never return. I wished it was better but it wasn’t.

Jamaica is best known for the north coast beaches, however because of our own schedules we decided on Fort Clarence Beach.

We weren't disappointed. We went on a Thursday in October so we were lucky enough to have the beach almost entirely to ourselves. I heard it is more crowded on weekends and peak season.

The beach had pleanty of chairs, we ate at the small restaurant and had the lobster and red snapper. They also had some alcoholic beverages, so we enjoyed some Red Stripe and Baileys. The food was a bit pricey for 3 people but the staff was friendly, the entrance fee to the beach was reasonable The beach was fairly clean.

Only weekends they are opened 9to5 for now, admission $1000/$500. You receive a lounge chair based on availability. I do hope they get umbrellas soon. Lifeguards on patrol as well as security, I'm told the venue is still in redevelopment stages. If you remember the layout, all is still maintained
Beautiful and serene atmosphere and clean relaxing music. song selection are great by the DJ hope that continues.

Fish/Lobster and nuggets/chips for kids are done to order on site. Do order early to avoid the rush.

Seaweed, it's not smelly when on the beach. I thought it would by what some folks say, its really not i was there from morning until evening and did'nt smell a thing. The water is nice and warm and swimmable once you pass the breakwater as the tide pushes the seaweed along the shore, But its all good otherwise.

We were able to find a good spot by a tree so it gave us some good shade. Food was available and was made to order... It was perfect!

Great beach within easy driving distance of Kingston; lots of room and not too many people; warm water; food and drinks vendors. Make sure to park in the lot of the beach you want to visit - there are several beaches side by side and where you've paid your parking determines where you can sit on the beach.
