It is a must for Marley fans. Bob’s guitar and bed and a tour bus. The walking tour led by Blackie was interesting seeing the area where many stars originated and hearing some good stories.

Absolutely the worst tour I've ever experienced, and I've been on many. Our guide was clearly inebriated & would basically read off street signs and occasionally ramble a short, made-up Bob Marley story. No depth or interesting historical info. The tour ends back near the office, where they pressure you to buy the music of a band that plays in a studio there. Upon returning, I shared my discontent with the manager woman & was met with standoffish verbal abuse. Please don't waste your money on this depressing insult to the legacy of Bob Marley & all the great music that came from this area.

I walked here from Downtown. I chose the long tour. The ladies in the office & the one who took me through the complex were absolutely lovely. It was interesting seeing where & how the people lived & Bobs guitar.
The guy that took me around the streets (Blacks, I think his name was) made me feel like I was an inconvenience. We walked to signs & he read the name on the sign & then walked off. I had to walk super fast & still couldn’t keep up with him.
We went through a lot of alleys, which I actually enjoyed.
Seems I like ghetto vibes lol
The guy with the rocks seemed like he was clutching at straws to make a story with each rock.
Maybe it was me & I just wasn’t on his wavelength though.
I had a better time walking around by myself & stopping at a bar & had a few beers & great conversations with some locals, one who drove me back downtown & pointed out where someone had just been shot dead the day before 😳
I don’t regret going but knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t be upset to miss it.
I feel it was a pricey money grab for not much in return. I’d suggest it’s more for die hard reggae fans.

Any fan of Bob Marley of course knows of Trench Town. We took a day trip to Kingston & it was high on my list of things to see. It was so surreal walking the streets. The tour is well worth it cost.

DO NOT CALL THE NUMBERS ON THE WEBSITE. Found out on my tour that the website has been hacked. The phone numbers are not for the right place. Go directly to the place to buy your tickets or you may get scammed.

Both of the tour guides were great and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond, taking us to places we would have never experienced on our own. They made us feel very welcome, and created an extremely authentic experience.

I went to the culture yard solo and decided to pay for the full $40 experience. It was a bit pricey but worth it, because my tour guide, the “Stoneman” was a extremely kind and open to answering questions. The tour included a walk through the neighborhood, when he explained where the many legends had originated from. The tour was much more down to earth than I had expected, and it revealed a neighborhood that is actively culturally rich.

If you are remotely curious about where reggae music was born or where Bob Marley spent his youth, you have to go to Trench Town. I contacted Sophia through the Trench Town Culture Yard website and she responded right away. I got to the Culture Yard by taxi from my hotel in downtown Kingston and Sophia arranged for her son Kash to give me a tour. You can choose from three tour options - I picked the priciest one (USD 30) that includes a tour of the Culture Yard and all the blocks of Trench Town. As a Bob Marley fan, this was a bucket list item for me.
