Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide and driver were ok. Fern Gully was lovely and we drove through it for a few miles on the way to the Walkerswood Factory tour. It was pegged as a way to discover local Jerk Chicken and sample the foods there. We had tasty Appleton rum punch when we arrived and sat for a lecture on the state for 10 minutes. Then we walked around the estate for nearly an hour to learn about Jamaican culture, spices, and the foods offered there (we sampled VERY SMALL bites of jerk chicken and some crackers with chutney). We were also given fresh herbs to smell and sugar cane to taste.

Next we visited the factory. It was closed down for the day so school groups could walk through. It looked very hot and uncomfortable to work in. The tour ended after the factory tour and we had time to shop ($2-$3/bottle for sauces) and there is a cafe on the premises with beer, juice and snacks for those who are still hungry.

We paid nearly $20/pp for the tour and did not find it to be worth the money. We certainly would never go back again. But, for those who are interested in sampling Jamaican rum and local specialties it was a nice half day tour.

I was in Jamaica and was told about a new culinary/tasting tour. I'm a foodie, and wanted a break from the beach, so I had to check it out.

Walkerswood Caribbean Foods was just a short ride up the hill from Ocho Rios. Beautiful Jamaican countryside I bet a lot of tourists don't take the time to see.

We got an introduction to the history of the village and Caribbean food. Got to sample some spicy but really tasty Jerk Chicken, hot off the jerk pit. Everyone in our group fell in love with mother thyme who kept us in stitches with her stories and family secrets. We got to walk through the factory and see how jerk seasoning is made among other products. They make really fun stuff like pepper sauces, guava jelly.

When the tour was over, there is a pretty cafe where we hung out for a while. Listened to some music, had a rum punch (ok, two rum punches). It was a perfect afternoon.

If you're planning a visit to Jamaica, you have to check it out.
