We went to La parguera to rent a boat and take it out through the mangroves. You can rent this boats at the same place where you can hop on a boat with "glass floors" to see the bio-luminescent bay at night. Had the boat out for a few hours, stopped near one of the mangroves and took a swim.... more

La Parguera is a bit of a dump. It probably gets a party crowd during weekends, but the rest of the week it is not very appealing. I looked around for dive shops, as apparently The Wall is a spot for great diving. I gave up after hearing the prices: $100 for a 2 tank dive trip including a full... more

Well we made it to the ocean again, seems no matter where you go on an island there seems to be a beach around. Well I must say that the past two days was like nothing I have done in my life. Spending two days in the La Parguera coral reef islands was heaven. The fact that it was with... more

We just spent 4 days in La Parguera and it was wonderful! It is a lovely little harbour town that was just fantastic! Everyone we met was kind, helpful and welcoming. We stayed at Villa Parguera which is just a beauitful Parador! The grounds are breathtaking, the rooms spotless. (a little outdated but roomy and very clean) Every single member... more

I'd read a lot of negative reviews of the bioluminescent bay at La Parguera, so had low expectations. It's amazing. We did an afternoon snorkel trip with Paradise Scuba, located in the center of town (and with a massive billboard on the way in from the highway). After the snorkel trip (very good coral at one of the reefs we... more

What a thrill to have taken a private tour with Dr. Ismael Ramos through the mangroves on his boat. The information from this ecogolist was fascinating. His small and personal tours are called Aleli Tours in La Parguera. And, he rents kyacks so we were able to paddle out and visit the wonderful array of reefs that he had pointed... more

We drove down to La Parguera from the north after visiting Rio Camuy Caves and Arecibo. What looks like a short drive actually ends up taking about 4 hours on the most interesting of roads. We stayed, mid week, at the Parador Villa La Parguera, overlooking the water. Beautiful grounds and it provided a nice place to relax and read... more

La Parguera is not what it used to be. On the weekends the streets are packed with people and cars. The area has become crowded and the residents don't seem to notice all the pollution/garbage in the water. I guess they think it will just float away? The water doesn't glow as bright as it used too but if you... more

I went to Puerto Rico for Spring Break of 2004, and it was absolutely awesome. La Parguera has the BEST snorkeling, and the guides are really cool! Our hotel we stayed in was different from anything in the States, but it just added to the atmosphere. The weather was perfect, I want to go back so bad! more
