This is a beautiful and charming city with the old structures, forts, coble stone streets, city walls and a nice port. There are too many things to do and see that is not prectical for me to mention them in one review. However I think I have a few tips: 1. Getting there: a. My first choice if you are... more

My husband and I stayed in OSJ and absolutely loved the atmosphere. It reminded us a lot of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Many shops, excellent food options, beautiful architecture, and so much history. more

Because of the constant busy traffic jam in front of the Sheraton Hotel by the cruise pier, the free trolley ride was scheduled to come every 20 minutes., but took us more than 1 hour for the wait., not worth for the wait., better walk up hill to Old San Juan yourself. The parking was tough until we found a parking garage over the bus station, which turned out to be extremely cheap. The area is very charming, with cobble stones and beautiful homes painted in different vibrant colors. It reminded me of Spain! There is great shopping (silver, COACH, etc.) so I would suggest buying your souvenirs and gifts in this... more

I loved old San Juan and am glad to see it is cleaner and more tourist friendly than the rest of Puerto Rico. Unlike most of the other cities on the island, wild dogs, chickens and garbage are not major issues--it's obvious they are trying to cater to tourists and they do an excellent job. The port area, though inundated... more

We headed to Old San Juan on our first day. We took the local bus from the La Concha hotel for .75 each. The ride took forever though and was confusing. It wasnt direct, but passed the area, went to the convention center, and back. We were dropped off at the outskirts of the city and had no clue where... more

My wife and I loved Old San Juan . . . it was almost as if we had stepped back in time. The old Spanish architecture, blue ballast stone streets and numerous statues were incredibly picturesque. Sites such as the Cathedral, El Morro Fortress and Fort San Cristobal were fantastic to see . . . not to mention Pigeon Park... more

Downtown was beautiful. From the fort and crystal waters on one side to the historic buildings and cobblestone roads. You definitely feel the rich culture with a variety of local shops and authentic restaurants. Old San Juan can be kinda scetchy at night so I advise ones to visit in a group. Overall, Puerto Rico is very hospitable. more

Real nice little town. Clean streets and very picturesque. It feels like you are no longer in Puerto Rico. San Cristobal Fort is very beautiful and a great place for taking pictures. If you love ice cream, there's a neat little shop on the road right behind San Cristobal Fort. We had corn and oatmeal ice cream and it was... more

San Juan was an excellent place to visit and was completely different than I imagined. I imagined Puerto Rico to be a run down crime filled island but I did not see that at all. The streets of Old San Juan are kept very clean and the older streets have a blue brick called Adoquin‏. Adoquin are blue stones cast... more
