Due to a fringing reef, there are no waves to speak of, so it's a perfect beach for young kids. The beach has some food kiosks, restrooms, changing rooms, showers, and lifeguards. There is a small fee to park in the gated parking area. « less

We had a great time coming to the Luquillo kiosks night after night. From $1 shots of Jose Cuervo to Fresh coconut with alcohol to Empanadas stuffed with any/everything you could think of, the Luquillo kisoks are a must visit for local flavor and fun More

Good beach for children since it doesn't have waves. From San Juan it's about 45 min aways. The water is blue and clean. Have to pay for parking $4.28 for the entire day. Also have to pay to shower and bathroom ($1.00 for restroom). Not the best beach in PR, but OK. Extremely crowded on the weekends, go during the... More

Based on all the rave reviews that Luquillo beach was getting, we decided to take our rental and head to the "best beach" in PR. When we got to the Luquillo area, we were hoping that the area would start looking better, but it didn't. There were run din apartment buildings and closed-up shops everywhere. Walls with graffiti, stray dogs,... More

It's a great beach approx 45 min away from old San Juan. We took one look at the Condado beach and decided it was not great. Googled and found this blue flag beach close to OSJ. You see a nice view of the El Yunque forest from the beach. The water is blue not turquoise bluel; it looked clean enough.... More

We stayed at the Gran Melia (near El Yunque) and enjoyed it's beach for walking around... but I'd read that Luquillo is the best beach around for beautiful photos and swimming. It was only okay. I mean, it was definitely pretty, but the sand wasn't super soft and there was quite a bit of litter along the beach, and we... More

Popular beach, very pretty, but I have seen better. There are a lot of locals, that blare their music very loudly, and the beach could use some major clean-up. Overall, worth seeing, but travel to Vieques or Culebra if you are traveling for the beaches. More

Luquillo Beach has got to be one of the best beaches on the island. Very popular with locals and easy to get to. Here you can rent a lounge chair and umbrella for very low price and they will carry it to any location you want it set up. The water is calm; no strong waves to knock you down.... More

This is paradise pure and simple. Having never swum in the ocean, I anticipated this visit all the while I was in Puerto Rico driving around the sites of historic interest. But this afternoon was just amazing. The weather just perfect; the wind just mildly blowing; the waves just kept on coming three and sometimes cresting at four feet high;... More

Luquillo Beach is so much fun. From the food kiosks down the road towards San Juan to the families and others populating the beach, it is a real hangout for 1-2 days. The people are the most fascinating to watch - their interactions, their food, and their hospitality. Recommend at least one trip to the food kiosks where there are... More
