I've been to most of the public beaches in st Lucia and for some reason Vigie gets overlooked. Just pull up off the road, park under the shady mangroves, have a swim, and watch the planes take off 100 feet away. The best part is the beach is very long (about 1 mile) and there aren't people trying to sell... More

We drove to Vigie Beach today and discovered a very long white sand beach that was practically deserted - even on a Saturday. A very mild surf made it interesting. If you're not in a beachfront hotel you may have to walk all the way around the airport runway to access the beach. It's a longer walk than it first appears and is not scenic. The public entrance just past the runway and by the Rendevouz resort felt a little dangerous. A bit of a bottleneck with some locals hanging... More
