Nice vintage Cathedral smack in the middle of the city of Castries. Tells much about the colonial history of the country as you can witness various marble inscriptions dating as far back as the 1900's some in french and some in english as the island was ruled both by the english and french several different times. The main Catholic church in rather low key Castries is a highlight..a great combination of colonial, catholic and Caribbean influences in this largely Catholic island. More

We hired a driver for the day and he picked us up at Sandals Regency. Our first stop was to go to mass at this church. We have gone to mass in churches throughout the world. We have never been welcomed so sincerely by a congregation. During the "sign of peace" individuals moved up and down the isles shaking hands... More

We visited the lovely Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on a weekday morning and were in awe from the moment we walked through its massive wooden doors. Neither of us is very religious, but upon entering we both felt a sense of serene peace and beauty. The quiet contrast to the island's chaotic capital is remarkable. Hundreds of prayer candles...
