I totally agree with other reviewers when they say that St. Maarten (Dutch side) does not care about their historic past. I had exactly the same feeling when I visited Fort Amsterdam. Its pretty obvious that St. Maarten (dutch side) thinks very little of their historic past. To even get to Fort Amsterdam you need to walk through a resort to reach it. The actual fort is very poorly maintained. There is trash and beer bottles every where. There is no historical information anywhere either. The cannons were extremely rusted and everything... more
