Spent two weeks and snorkeled off many beaches all around the island. Cemetery reef was the best all around beach experience we had on Grand Cayman. Large clean sand beach with ample shaded areas. Easy entry into a good beginner snorkeling area, a lovely group of fish to interact with close to shore,no sea grass, and more interesting things further... more

I had snorkeled a little on the reef every day since it was right next to our condo, but I did one last trip with my daughter before we left. Lots of Sergeant Majors follow you around hoping to get food. We saw flounder, all sorts of bright fish, and a variety of coral. If you’re staying on SMB, this... more

I have this corn ball theory that the deceased buried adjacent to the beach are reincarnated as lovely fish. The snorkeling off Cemetery beach is the best of any locale in all of the Caribe. Enjoy! more

We went to this snorkelling site several times during our 2 week stay on Grand Cayman Island in Dec 2007. The water was clear, easy entry, you will see fish pretty much as soon as you get in. We saw many lovely fish - the usual suspects were there, sargent majors, french grunts, blue tangs, surgeon fish, reef squid, some... more

Just got back from a Carnival Conquest cruise and spent one day in Grand Cayman. Rented a car and drove around the island and then ended the day at Cemetery Reef. Go down 7 mile beach and after you pass all of the major hotels, you'll see a cemetery on the left. Park on the road and walk down the... more

We waited until our last day on the island -- May 6 -- to hit Cemetery Reef (or Cemetery Beach). This was by far the most spectacular snorkeling I've ever done. The fish -- mostly sargent majors -- would swim right up to you and then some would follow you around. All kinds of fish were in abundance and they... more

We parked on the road near the fire station, walk down a path along the side of the cemetery and came to a rather natural beach. There was nobody else there and the reef itself was not that attractive. We were concerned about our belongings that we left on the beach, afraid that they might be pilfered while we were... more

Before I went on my vacation, I had never been snorkeling before. I had a hard time at first, but I'm so glad I gave it another try. You HAVE to go to Cemetary Reef. We weren't sure how to find it and there aren't any signs. Just follow Seven Mile Beach north, and there's a cemetary on the left... more
