There is a two mile nature trail for hiking through the Preserve--a good place to see the beautiful local flora and fauna as well. « less

The man from whom we rented our car informed us to visit the preserve either earlier in the morning or at dusk. We visited at dusk and after seeing nothing at the marked reserve area, we backtracked to the Bight trail where we spotted two pair of parrots almost immediately, one pair over our heads in a mango tree. The trail starts out as a wooden board walk with railings but it soon ends and turns into full on dolomite (ironshore) landscape. Even the best hiking boots would have trouble on this rock and therein lies the issue - you will be looking up and around for birds however the rock is so rough that you don't dare not... More

We got to Parrot preserve a little bit late morning so we didn't see much. Best time is early morning and bring a telescope. Maybe we're short on time but we didn't have the chance to explore. We would hear parrots and some nesting chicks. What baffles me is that there are subdivisions being build right next to the Parrot... More

All most websites and brochures tell you is that the parrots are shy or infrequently seen. Once on the Brac, we were told that the parrots have a habit we had previously seen with the scarlet ibis colony in Trinidad - they leave at dawn and return to their roosts at dusk. During daylight, we still saw several other types... More

Maybe it was the time of year but we saw ZERO birds for the first 4 hours of our excursion. (With the exception of a few Roosters and a tame pigeon). It was only by blind luck that as we exited the parrot reserve we caught sight of three parrots sitting in a tree. More

I loved all the natural attractions on Cayman Brac. Because the Parrot Preserve was not a "zoo" I did understand that there might not be a parrot sighting on the day we visited. It leaves something to look forward to the next time we visit. More

Great hike through a fascinating ecosystem - forest growing on top of million year old coral. Beautiful trees, huge agave, cactus, lots of birds, hermit crabs, etc. Go early (at day break) for the best chance to see the parrots! The walk starts off with an easy to navigate boardwalk but soon turns to iron shore/coral so make sure you... More
