Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Out tour only gave us a brief experience through the front of the gardens, but our guide was great with lots of details and history. The stroll through the gardens was quite nice.

Lovely afternoon visit as the sun starts to set because there’ll be plenty of shade options and relative quiet. The only downside here is the parking situation, or lack there of. You can only park alongside the circular ring road without any clear sidewalk to get back to the main entrance. That said, if you are far enough down you can enter on the far end of the park (by the Presidential palace). If staying at the BRIX, you might as well just walk.

Parking is free. Entry is free. Restrooms/Washrooms - only by the main entrance. Some vendors around but bare minimum so bring plenty of water, snacks, etc… Time neede, if you plan to relax a bit in the park, is 1-2 hours max.

Great picnic spot as well.

We toured the park and there were flowers. This was the dryer time of year so that some of the plants had no flowers. There was a tree that had pink and lime green bark that was interesting.
The Presidents House is in the garden area.

A lovely place to visit to enjoy the gardens. There were many photographic opportunities. Can spend the entire day there especially if the weather is nice.

Great place to feel one with nature, for a picnic and for some green photo opportunities. Well kept grounds and there was a security in the booth at the entrance which made us feel safer.

Easy to find and park on the nearby street. Nice place to walk and see a variety of plants, trees and birds. Has orchid garden that is not frequently open but you can easily see the plants. There are other grow out areas as well. They should provide better access. However, there are picnic tables and clean safe bathrooms. No charge to enter. The zoo is next door and you can see some of the birds through the fence. Bring water as it can get hot. I wish that they would do a better job of keeping the identification signs in better shape. But there are numerous species of flowering trees and plants, as well as, many palm trees.

We took a nice peaceful walk around the botanical gardens on a very hot day in Port of Spain. I've been to some amazing botanical gardens before - Montreal, Sydney, etc - and this one was very underwhelming. There are some cool trees but in terms of plants there isn't very much. The greenhouse with the anthuriums was falling apart and you could tell the flowers hadn't been watered or cared for in some time.

This is a free activity you can do while in Port of Spain. The area is really well kept and maintained. The Prime Minister's house lays right on the edge of it, with beautiful trees and flowers all around.
