Definitely do not miss Buck Island! If you do nothing else in St. Croix, get out there!! We sailed on a Wednesday morning (6/17) from Green Cay Marina (just outside of Christiansted) to Buck Island for the full day (9-2) tour with Capt Heinz on the Teroro II and had a great time. The only time the motor on the... more

On the recommendation of our resort owner, my partner and I took the Big Beard's half-day excursion to Buck Island on June 11, 2009. Our excursion was aboard Big Beard's hybrid power "Adventure" boat with Captain Austin, 1st Mate Darby, and another crew member, Brad. We were met at the dock both leaving and returning by Big Beard (Captain John... more

My partner and I booked the Big Beard all day trip to Buck Island. We booked on the 23rd of April. We got to the dock at 0900 and were suppose to sail at 0930. We didn't sail until 0950. When we sailed we were prepared to go to Buck Island and were very excited to see it and the... more

We chose to do the half day trip to Buck Island on Big Beard's. We left in the morning (9am-ish) and returned a little after 1pm, sailing on the "Flyer". Captain Austin and 1st Mate Darby made the trip a good time. They know the waters well and made the sailing trip very enjoyable, inspite of the rough waters heading... more

Went to Buck Island yesterday with Big Beard and had a wonderful time. We took the full day trip which I recommend since it includes a lunch and rum punch at the end. All food is cooked outdoors with the mongooses coming up and grabbing the left overs when everyone is finished. Our Captain was a guy named Austin whose... more

Buck Island is serene. The trip must be made on big beard Renegade, since it is a big catamaran and thr ride is extremely smooth. We took the half a day trip , which was maybe a tad too short since an extra hour beach combing would have been perfect. The water is crystal clear. I highly recommend it especially... more

We booked the full-day excursion aboard the Renegade for February 14, 2008. Austin was our captain. We had a great time! The captain and crew were informative, funny, and knowledgeable. We saw the usual sargeant majors, parrotfish, etc. and also saw squid , barracuda, and other fish I had never seen before. There were about 20 passengers, including crew, on... more

We rode on the Renegade with Capt. Austin and his first mate, Lindsey. We have taken other catamaran trips on other islands, but none compared to this one. Both Austin and Lindsey were warm, knowledgeable of the island, snorkeling and sailing, and made us feel like we were the only guests they had ever taken. We recommend that you not... more

We took the Renegade to Buck Island on Nov 15, 2007. What a great trip. Capt Austin and first mate Lindsey did a great job. This was before 'high season,' so we ended up having the entire catamaran for 6 passengers! It can take up to 39 I think. The service, food and fun was awesome. The snorkeling at Buck... more

Buck Island was beautiful! There was great snorkeling, swimming, and walking. We even got to see some baby sharks. We booked a half day trip with Captain Heinz on the Terroro II. He was a great host and very laid back. He gave you plenty of warning before it was time to leave and lots of pointers on things to... more
